A student holds the blue ribbon she won at the recent Oklahoma State Fair for a photograph of red Puma shoes set on a backdrop with yellow, orange and purple hues.

Two individuals and a business pitch team recently took home top prizes at area competitions.

Amariona Belt, a senior at Mustang High School, placed first in the Unclassified Category for photography at the Oklahoma State Fair, while Yukon adult student Haley Rego received ninth place in the Pet photography category for an entry featuring a family cat.

Belt’s entry was a shoe advertisement with dynamic colors. Her winning photo was the result of a lighting assignment in her Digital Media class at Canadian Valley Technology Center.

The photo featured red Puma Speecast shoes, which are often worn by performance drivers or for everyday fashion. The lighting was provided by a key light to one side of a backdrop and two strobe lights set to yellow and orange behind the backdrop.

Meanwhile, a team of five Digital Media students took home a $500 fourth place prize from a business pitch competition similar to the popular ABC TV show, “Shark Tank.” Each student received $100. The team’s topic was supply chain management. They created a phone app to help car dealers and their customers find specific car models quickly and more efficiently.
