College prep is a bit of a departure from traditional tech center classes, admits Seth Booth. Now a junior at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Seth was convinced he would have a much greater chance of succeeding at a college known for rigorous academics if he enrolled in CV Tech’s Pre-Engineering program. “It offered AP Calculus and AP Physics 2 classes that my high school didn't offer, and I was running out of math classes to take,” he said. “Not to mention I was dead-set on engineering and the program itself sounded interesting enough.

“I think I can say for certain that I would not have even applied (to MIT) were it not for Pre-Engineering. Not that I don't think I wouldn’t have gotten in, but more because I don't think I would have felt prepared enough for such an academically rigorous school.”

Seth, now 21, is a junior at MIT. He recently completed a summer internship with a company that ranks among the fastest growing for 2010. He plans eventually to move back to Oklahoma with his wife.
