At 30 and just obtaining a GED, Maria Thompson began CV Tech's nursing program in September of 2008, and will officially graduate this October. The past two years have been a struggle for Thompson, but she has persevered at CV Tech by serving as HOSA vice-president and president, placing first at the state HOSA contest in Extemporaneous Speaking, and placing 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking at HOSA’s national contest.

NOW, Thompson has recently passed the state board exam, and is officially a Licensed Practical Nurse. She plans to work for a home health agency in Chickasha, and eventually pursue her RN degree.
