Network Security Professional (Systems Emphasis)

This major prepares students to plan, coordinate and implement security measures for computer systems. Students first learn network and routing fundamentals and a variety of network support skills including installation, configuration, maintenance and administration duties as well as support to network users. Students are then introduced to basic security principles involving networks and operating systems, including the current threats and vulnerabilities of the cyber landscape. They gain an understanding of the principles of risk management, security architectures, incident handling, disaster recovery and secure systems administration. Students gain skills required for certifications offered by Microsoft, CIW, CompTIA, Novell, and Cisco, along with additional security certifications for Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNP), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), and Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
